Hello,

I am the proud owner of a 2003 Astina Shades model :)

However, I am experiencing some weirdness with the temperature and fuel gauges,

A few weeks back, the fuel gauge started playing up. I popped $20.00 worth of fuel in the car one afternoon as it was nearing empty and drove a few km here and there. The needle sat at the 1/4 of a tank. However, the next day when the car was started the needle sat on pretty much the empty position. Initially I didn't pay too much attention to this, but again the next day when the car was started, the needle was still sitting at the empty position.

I drove to my local servo and filled the car up. This time something really odd happened. The fuel needle went to half way and stopped. But as well as this, the temperature needle instead of sitting at its normal half way position only went as far as one quarter on the gauge (ie, at say the 8 o'clock position).

This was a week ago and this oddness remains. The car runs like a dream (it still has less that 100K km on it), but these gauges need looking at.

I am guessing that because the two of them have failed at the same time that what is not working right is common to both.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Anyone have any ideas as to what may be the issue?

Thanks.

Well being A MODUEL type car.

THe signal are not direct - so it's pain. Two isseue could be at play the CPU which runs al the interals in the car and normally houses the beeper for lights on reminder and even interior light fade delay.
Could be failing.

But IMO your best bet is to get hold of a matching equivlant Speedo/ cluster. and swap. If it continues swap CPU.

but you could also change - fuel level sender ? and temp sender. Now temp sender is easiest to get too and fuel sender depends on car model etc. Some cars it's easy lift rear seat or boot - a few screws -done. Others are drop the tank etc.

I would personally first to a Reset. Disconnect batrtery for 5 mins let all electrics run down and out and then restart and see how it reacts.

Many thanks roadhog. Its funny that you mention the instrument cluster as only yesterday my sister and her fella popped in and he mentioned the same thing.

I'll try the reset first as you suggested then report back here once done.

Thanks again.
