Mazda 2 - 2008 genki model

Hello, I'm hoping you lot can help me.

I am trying to narrow down on what might be causing this disturbing sound coming from my dashboard.
As it seems it only comes alive when my car is in the heat long enough. For example, if I keep my car in my garage and then drive it, the noise isn't there.
But if my mazda waits in the sun, which makes the dashboard heat up, and if I then drive on bumpy roads, the noise appears.

It's really annoying and seems like something is shaking in the dash? It happens only on bumpy roads of course, but again, only if the dash is heated up.
I've tried everything, from removing every personal thing in my car, to beating the shit out of my dash.
I'd be really happy if you could help me with advice, especially since I'm taking her in on 24th august for some other repairs (a pest scratched her with a key).

PS: I can't just simply ask the dealer to fix it, since it's hard to replicate the sound and since I'm not really sure what's causing it.

Thanks upfront !!

i've got a few nasty rattles in my 2, one coming from the drivers door side and another in the dash somewhere. I told mazda a long time ago, they replaced the speaker but nothing really changed. So i pretty much just gave up on fixing them.

I've got a tiny rattle around my radio somewhere. It's really annoying. After trying the "bash the dash everywhere" fix I've found the only thing that works is turning up the radio. I also have a noise over the front passenger door too. Our Mazda3 has a couple of annoying rattles too. Rattles are really hard to trace. They seem to go quiet when i ask someone to come with me and help me track them down.

Try a little silicon spray into the joints and that will silence it - For at least 12months

It's a bit hard to work out exactly where the noise is coming from but I'll give it a try. I'm not a very car savvy girl. What do you suggest I buy?

Shida id say it is the lid on teh console on the dash or it could be the same as the squeek Melvin found in mine

Benny, i have that rattle as well. It's been taken to Mazda twice and they always just say it's because leaves get sucked in through the vents above the bonnet, then advise you not to park under trees. Sometimes you can blow it out by setting it the highest, but it doesn't always work. if you take it to Mazda they should blow it out there!

Hmm, little rattley 2's.... as I have no idea what it's like, and it doesn't sound like describing a flexing click/squeak... I'd say a plastic clip/stud has either come loose or a hinge in the design doesn't have a stopper to hold it steady. Good luck with the searching!

:drag:

Well, I dropped by the dealer last week and guess what. Yes, the sound is coming from the dash (to be more exact it's coming from the tiny console around the all 4 markers button - which you use when you're going backwards for example) and what they said was, they're not opening it up since putting it back together might bring out more "noises". Fuck that cheap plastics.

Another thing is the black console at the rain sensor, where the mirror is popped on to. In connection to the cable coming from the roof to the rain sensor it causes the most disturbing little sound on the planet. They "fixed it" but not really. It's still there and it's winning against my nerves.

I guess this is what you get for 17k euros, cheap plastics with horse hard suspension that rocks everything up. I'm not giving my 2 up, but I'm disappointed.

Hey, does anyone know how to open up the tiny console that's around the 4 markers button? or both .. because i thought of putting some sillicon under it, however i'm not sure if i should just knife it out, since it might be attached with something.

My Genki was giving the occasion noise 2 months ago and I thought that cannot be as Genki is so new (bought new in Feb) a investigaton by meself found out it was this little zipper bag's zipper jingles in the glove compartment! But in all fairness, the driver mirror shield also had some noise occasionally but now no more.
I am back after a long absence from OzMazda! Now drive a 09 Mazda 2 Genki

iv got an 08' neo and after only having it for 6 months i had a rattle in my dash so i took it to for service and they found it was twigs stuck in my fan just like benny.. but they ordered a smaller meshed cover for the intake vent.. it should be free cause they said it was a design floor which mazda apparently fixed in 09' model.. so make sure they dont try to charge any of you for it if the same happens to you.
:]
