MX5 NC Fuel Filter

My NC MX5 had its 150,000 km service recently and was due to have its fuel filter replaced.

The price for this was about AUS$600 of which only AUS$60 was for labour. The Mazda dealer advised that the fuel filter is integral to the fuel pump and both have to be replaced at the same time.

Has anyone got any advice on a cheaper alternative to what the Mazda dealer is recommending?

Oil Usage

Hey All,
I'm new to the forum, and am sorry to hit you with a problem first up, but I have
a 2005 Maz 6 Luxury Sports with 170,000k's on it, at present it's using about
400ml of oil every 1000k's.
I've taken it to our dealer in Ipswich QLD who says it might need a rebuild, or at least
a valve check to see if oil is by passing the valves.
My problem with both of these diagnosis, is that there are no oil leaks, (dry as a Bone), and
it's not blowing a poofteenth of smoke, and the exhaust is as clean as a whistle. My next step
is to take it to some one to do an exhaust check (Ultratune maybe) to see what it's readings are.

So why is it using oil, any ideas based on similar experiences.

SP23 ECU Flash/Tuning

Hey guys I've have 2004 mazda sp23 manual sedan with the usual CAI and custom 2.25" catless catback exhaust performance mods on it plus other little things. ALthough no matter the mods, a week or two later the cars ecu learns them and adjusts itself to them leaving the car go back feeling and driving nearly like its stock.

I've been searching for places that does the mazda sp23 ecu flashing and can't really find a place that does this other than chiptorque at QLD with a price of $770. i can't really swing that much + too far away. I'm wondering if you guys know any place I can get this done or can you guys give me some other options such as a piggy back solution that isn't gunna cost me half the price of a turbo!

Also I'm in the Sydney

Thanks.

In an effort to keep itself afloat, the Japanese automaker is rumored to be considering a new issue of as many as 690 million shares, which would raise about 100 billion yen while diluting current share value by a massive 38.7 percent.

In addition, Mazda is thought to be seeking loans of 70 billion yen from a number of Japanese banks. A good portion of these funds are necessary to bolster Mazda's overseas production facilities. At present, 70 percent of all its vehicles are produced in Japan and 90 percent of those are exported. In order to combat the high value of the yen, Mazda is seeking to renovate a production site in Thailand and build a new one on Mexico.

Only time will tell if Mazda, Japan's fifth-largest automaker, is able to remain an independent company or if it will be forced to partner up with a larger partner, as it once had with Ford.
Troubled Mazda looking to raise $2B in shares, fund Mexico plant originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 21 Feb 2012 17:28:00 EST.
